Day 3.

My body loves me!
Not going to lie, yesterday was painful. Just a short jaunt to the grocery store and my thighs were burning. Like, hot shooting pain up through the thigh. Wasn't the best feeling ever, but it's gone now! woohooo...

So, yesterday (the day I for sure thought there would be snow on the ground, and I could rest) was beautiful. Wanting to take advantage of the beautiful day (and knowing I had to get my one ride of the day in), I decided I wanted to make hummus, and that I was going to ride to the store to gather ingredients. Let me tell you something: chickpeas are HEAVY! especially when you forget that you are on a bicycle, and not in a car, and you take advantage of the sale on chickpeas.
Let me tell you something else: the Magic Bullet does NOT make hummus in 30 seconds. It doesn't even make hummus in under an hour! However, a potato masher and my mean guns DO make hummus, and quite well thankyou.

So, where yesterday's short ride to the store was only about 3.6km, today's rides (that's right, MULTIPLE!) totaled about 14.4km! Yeeeeaaa nbd.

It started when Rob got his tax return. Since I got my bike, Rob has be grieving hard for his bent frame that met it's fate last august. He kept saying "now I have to get one, then we can go for bike rides together!", and today, he got his tax return. It was enough for a new bike, and then some. What did Rob do? bought a new bike. He was like a kid in a candy store, and the enthusiasm was contagious. He bought himself 'the beast'. It is apparently, the beastiest. While I was getting myself a nice bowl of granola, fruit, and yogurt, Rob went for a little ride around the block. When I was done, we rode to the beer store (I got some delightful Barefoot Pinot Grigio, he got Granville Island Winter Ale).  Obviously after a purchase like this, there needed to be some sort of celebration! After that, we decided to head home and see where roomie was at. He was not at home. We lasted at home long enough to change shoes, adjust Rob's seat, and have a drink of water.

The next stop was Winners. There was this superrrr pretty floral shirt that I had tried to purchase earlier in the day, but I forgot my debit card at home. So, I went back for it. Wandered in, Rob found socks ( new socks feels like christmas morning), and I got my shirt.

It's my good buddy's bday today (Holla!), so at the most in opportune moment (stopped at an intersection), I called her up to see what she was up to. It was a pretty solid conversation, wished her a happy bday, chatted about how it's been too long. She is going to give me a shout later.

It was a tit bit nipply out, so (as it was the only coffee shop still open), we headed to starbucks. Although the plan was originally to get something warm, I ended up with an iced green tea. Not the best plan I've ever had, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. I regretted it the second I got back into the cold.

Rob still had coffee.

Then, we ventured home.

Sat down, cracked open the wine (and beer), and now I'm here. Battling some jackass on the importance of taking care of the environment, on someone elses wall post. Sorry, Stuart!

Wooohooooo for cycling. I feel awesome, I can reasonably go without driving, and hey, cycling is fun as hell.

Also, a big shout out to my almost-4-yr-old buddy Ayla, for rockin the skis today! yeeeaaa mini shredder!

Smiles all around :)

Ask Rob if you can see his bike, he might poop his pants in excitement.
